Deutscher Fluglärmdienst e.V.

What is the Purpose of these Measurements
1. Informing people
Is there any aircraft noise here at all ?
We are once and again confronted with statements simply maintaining that there id no or only minor aircraft noise here, and that consequently there is no need of action.
This approach, resulting in political inactivity or even in an increase in the number of flight movements, can be disproved.
2. Understanding what happens
We want to gather insights about the apparently arbitrary changes in overflight behaviour.
With the same operation direction, there are, according to our observations, once and again unexplainable shifts as to where and when planes are under way.
3. Making things public
It is our concept to impart information in an open manner.
It can be noticed in the debate on flight routes, aircraft noise, and airport expansion that even highly self-evident information is kept secret.
The DFS (German air-traffic control) plays a prominent role in denying information.

Meetings of aircraft noise commissions are not held publicly - even protocols cannot be looked at.
We are kept 'ignorant' on purpose, as a means to hinder our resistance.
The present project is meant as one contribution to torpedo such mysterymongering.
4. Helping with complaints
We will provide you with the facts to directly (online interface) complain about planes too loud or on false routes.
5. Visions of the Future
With a great number of measurement stations, we will be able to prove to the airport administrations and the DFS any change in numbers and routes of flights.
1. Network of measurement stations covering the whole Europe.
2. Evaluation software
With a sufficient number of measurement stations, we should be able to calculate
· own flight tracking recordings every day,
· number of planes,
· routings,
· false flights,
· ...
3. Open System
Anybody can take part - costs are within the reach of even individual persons.
